The Charlotte Hornets have added veteran coach Will Weaver to their staff as a coaching advisor, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Weaver brings more than a decade of NBA and international coaching experience to Charlotte’s bench. He most recently served as an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2023–24 season.
The coach began his career in college basketball with Texas and Sam Houston State before joining the Philadelphia 76ers’ staff in 2013. He later held assistant roles with the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets.
Weaver has also been a head coach at multiple levels, including leading the Long Island Nets to the G League Coach of the Year award in 2019. He guided the Sydney Kings to the NBL Finals in 2020 and coached Paris Basketball in France from 2022 to 2023.
In addition to his NBA and international club experience, Weaver was part of Australia’s national team staff, further strengthening his reputation as a versatile and well-rounded coach.
Charlotte enters the 2025–26 season with a revamped roster led by LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and offseason additions Collin Sexton and Pat Connaughton. The Hornets also drafted Duke standout Kon Knueppel with the No. 4 pick, along with Sion James and Ryan Kalkbrenner in the second round.
