Free-agent wing Javonte Green is closing in on a one-year contract with the Detroit Pistons, league insider Shams Charania reported, with sources telling ESPN the deal is being finalized.

Green, 32, spent last season split between the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans, and now looks set to enter his seventh NBA campaign in Detroit.

Across 68 appearances in 2024–25, Green averaged 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game, producing his most consistent minutes with New Orleans before a late-season stint in Cleveland.

His career line through six NBA seasons stands at roughly 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game over 263 games.

Defensive versatility is Green’s calling card; he’s carved out a niche as a gritty perimeter stopper who brings toughness, on-ball pressure and loose-ball instincts to the wing.

The timing of the deal overlaps with another headline: Green is on USA Basketball’s 12-man roster for the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup in Managua, Nicaragua, with Team USA’s training camp held Aug. 12–18.
