Baskonia has officially signed former NBA swingman Hamidou Diallo to a two-year contract, adding high-level athleticism and two-way experience to their EuroLeague roster.
The Vitoria-Gasteiz-based club announced the move on Thursday, highlighting Diallo’s résumé, which includes over 250 NBA games and a standout 2024–25 campaign with Shanxi Loongs in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Diallo, 27, averaged 22.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game last season in China.
Originally drafted in 2018, the New York native spent time with the Thunder, Pistons, and Wizards, in addition to stints in the G League with Capital City Go-Go and Oklahoma City Blue.
Known for his explosive leaping ability, Diallo won the 2019 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, showcasing the athleticism that will now be on display in Liga Endesa and the EuroLeague.
Standing 1.99 meters tall (6-foot-6), Diallo brings a physical presence on the wing with the versatility to guard multiple positions.
During his NBA career, he averaged 8.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 50% from the field.
His best NBA season came in 2020–21, when he posted 11.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game across stints with Oklahoma City and Detroit.
Despite flashes of production, Diallo struggled to secure a long-term role in the NBA, eventually heading to China in search of consistent minutes and a larger role.
In Shanxi, he thrived as a lead scorer, which helped revive his value and draw interest from European clubs.
