Jeff Dowtin Jr. is headed overseas, as he has agreed to a two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to his agent, Bill Neff, who shared the news with NBA insider Marc Stein (The Stein Line, via Twitter). The deal includes a mutual option for the second year, providing both Dowtin and the team with flexibility moving forward.

The 28-year-old point guard reportedly drew interest from multiple European clubs, but ultimately chose to join the perennial Israeli powerhouse. Maccabi Tel Aviv competes in both the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroLeague, offering Dowtin a prominent platform to showcase his talents.

Dowtin most recently played for the Philadelphia 76ers, joining the team in March 2024 on a two-way contract. He saw action in 41 NBA games over the course of his career, including a stint with the Sixers, where he averaged 7.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 15.1 minutes per game.

His shooting efficiency was solid across the board, with a .487 field goal percentage, .400 from beyond the arc, and .733 from the free-throw line.

After going undrafted out of the University of Rhode Island in 2020, Dowtin initially signed with the Orlando Magic but didn’t make his NBA debut until 2021, when he was picked up by the Golden State Warriors off waivers.

Over the next couple of seasons, he had brief stints with several NBA teams. He appeared in a game for the Milwaukee Bucks on a 10-day contract, returned briefly to Orlando, and later played for the Toronto Raptors before joining Philadelphia.

Dowtin now becomes the third player from the 2023–24 76ers roster to sign with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He joins Lonnie Walker IV, whose signing was confirmed earlier today, and forward Oshae Brissett, who committed to the Israeli club in July.

The additions are part of Maccabi’s efforts to build a competitive roster for the upcoming EuroLeague campaign.
