Lonnie Walker IV is heading back to Europe after agreeing to a deal with EuroLeague powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
Walker’s agent, George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group, confirmed the signing, adding that the deal includes an NBA buyout clause valid until August 1.
The 26-year-old guard ended last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 20 games after returning from a stint with Zalgiris Kaunas.
His move to Maccabi comes amid reported interest from EuroLeague newcomer Hapoel Tel Aviv, who had also been targeting Walker to bolster their backcourt.
Walker began the 2024–25 season with the Boston Celtics but was waived before the regular season tipped off.
He signed with Zalgiris in October 2024 and went on to average 13.6 points and 3.2 rebounds across 19 EuroLeague games, while helping the club capture the King Mindaugas Cup in February 2025.
During his EuroLeague campaign, Walker shot 45.2% on two-point attempts and 33.1% from three, displaying the offensive versatility that made him a target in the international market.
Maccabi is expected to utilize Walker as a lead scoring option on the wing, adding NBA-caliber depth to a team that reached the EuroLeague playoffs last season.
His signing is part of a busy offseason for Maccabi, which is reshaping its roster following departures and is reportedly still active in the international market.
Walker has played 342 NBA games across six seasons with the Spurs, Lakers, Nets, and Sixers, posting career averages of 10.0 points and 2.3 rebounds.
He rejoined the NBA in February 2025 after signing with the Sixers, but now returns to the EuroLeague as one of the highest-paid American players in Europe.
The contract structure allows for a possible NBA return, should a team express interest before the August 1 buyout deadline.
