The San Antonio Spurs have signed free agent guard Lindy Waters III to a one-year contract, according to Shams Charania. The 27-year-old joins the Spurs after spending parts of four NBA seasons with the Thunder, Warriors, and Pistons.

Waters has established himself as a reliable perimeter threat, shooting 37% from three-point range over his NBA career. He appeared in 52 games during the 2024–25 season, splitting time between Golden State and Detroit after a midseason trade.

Originally signed by Oklahoma City as an undrafted free agent in 2021, Waters made 156 regular-season appearances for three teams, averaging 5.2 points in 13.2 minutes per game. His most productive year came during his rookie season, when he averaged 8.0 points and nearly three rebounds in 25 games with the Thunder.

San Antonio adds Waters to bolster its depth on the wing and provide additional shooting. The guard also brings G League success, having posted 21.8 points per game on 42.5% shooting from deep for the Oklahoma City Blue in the 2023–24 season.

The Spurs are expected to continue evaluating roster moves as they build around Victor Wembanyama for the upcoming season. Waters’ contract gives the team flexibility while adding a proven floor spacer to their rotation.

His career includes a brief playoff stint with Oklahoma City in 2024, as well as a whirlwind 2024 draft-night trade where Golden State acquired him before flipping him hours later. This past February, Waters was moved to Detroit as part of a five-team deal that sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors.
