Richard Jefferson has reportedly reached a new agreement to return to ESPN – and its sister network ABC – for the upcoming season, according to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic.

Jefferson is expected to retain his role on the network’s lead NBA broadcasting team, working alongside veteran play-by-play announcer Mike Breen. However, the full composition of that top broadcast crew is still unsettled.

Marchand notes that Doris Burke’s status on the team remains uncertain, and ESPN has yet to make a final decision regarding her role moving forward. Burke has been a prominent presence on the network’s top NBA broadcasts, but changes could be on the horizon.

Before re-signing with ESPN, Jefferson reportedly received interest from Amazon Prime Video, indicating his rising profile and value as a broadcaster.

Should ESPN opt to move in a different direction with Burke’s position, analyst Tim Legler is reportedly the frontrunner to step into that spot.

Marchand adds that the network is also considering the possibility of going with a two-person booth – consisting of just Breen and Jefferson – rather than a traditional three-person team.
