After the anticipated Sacramento Kings sign-and-trade deal involving Malik Monk and Dennis Schröder fell through, Monk has shown a strong commitment to doing whatever it takes to help the team succeed, according to Will Zimmerle of SI.com.

The Kings currently project Dennis Schröder and Zach LaVine as their starting backcourt. While Monk has previously voiced his ambition to be a starter in the NBA, he is reportedly ready to accept a bench role if that’s what head coach Doug Christie deems best for the team’s success.

As Matt George from ABC10 shared during a recent ESPN radio broadcast, “Malik has told Doug Christie, ‘I will do whatever you need, even if that includes coming off the bench.’ I don’t think he’s going to pout or throw a fit about it.”

Monk, who was the runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year in the 2023/24 season, split his time between starting and coming off the bench last year, achieving career highs with an average of 17.2 points and 5.6 assists per game.
