The Clippers’ first-round draft pick, Yanic Konan Niederhauser, demonstrated a range of skills across his first three Summer League appearances, as reported by Broderick Turner of the LA Times.

While his defensive abilities remain his strongest asset, Niederhauser also showcased some of the offensive talents that initially caught the Clippers’ attention and led to his selection with the No. 30 pick in the 2025 draft.

Reflecting on a high-energy dunk he executed over a defender during a fast break, Niederhauser remarked, “That’s the guard skills I was talking about.”

Those guard-like skills trace back to when he was a 6’5” teenager at 16, before experiencing a significant growth spurt that eventually took him to 6’11” and solidified his path as a center.

General Manager Trent Redden emphasized Niederhauser’s ongoing development, noting, “For a guy his age, he’s still learning and adjusting to a frame he hasn’t really had his whole life.”

Redden also pointed out the uniqueness of Niederhauser’s profile: “We just haven’t had a player of that size and age in a backup role that we can invest in and work closely with our developmental staff.”

Entering a promising environment, Niederhauser has the opportunity to grow under the mentorship of experienced defensive anchors Brook Lopez and Ivica Zubac, positioning him well for future success.
