Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports that the ongoing search for a new team president in Toronto, combined with the new ownership group’s commitment to ongoing organizational changes, has created a sense of unease among those inside the Raptors’ front office.
One insider candidly shared with Lewenberg, “Everybody is scared. The closer you are to the top, the more you feel it,” highlighting the tension and uncertainty permeating the upper levels of the franchise.
In his analysis, Lewenberg advocates for Bobby Webster, who has served as Masai Ujiri’s trusted right-hand man and general manager for many years, as a natural and logical choice to step up as the Raptors’ next permanent president.
Despite this suggestion, he notes that the current ownership group, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), has hired the executive search firm CAA Executive Search to assist in identifying potential candidates.
Just last week, this firm delivered a shortlist of recommended individuals to the MLSE board for consideration, signaling that the search process remains active and competitive.
