Toronto Raptors shooting guard A.J. Lawson is doing everything he can to secure his place on the roster for the upcoming season.

Although he’s on a non-guaranteed deal worth $2.27 million for next year, Lawson is turning heads with his standout play in Summer League, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.

Through his first two games in Las Vegas, the 25-year-old guard has been a dynamic offensive presence, averaging an impressive 21.5 points per game while converting an efficient 60 percent of his field goal attempts.

His combination of athleticism, scoring ability, and effort has helped him emerge as one of the Raptors’ most consistent performers during Summer League competition.

Lawson was promoted to a standard NBA contract late in the previous regular season, and his current level of play is strengthening his argument to maintain that spot heading into training camp.

With Toronto in a transitional phase, his continued development and productivity could be enough to earn him a full-time role with the team.

Lawson has played 3 seasons for the Mavericks, Raptors and Timberwolves. He has averaged 5.2 points in 83 regular-season games.
