The Dallas Mavericks wing A.J. Lawson had difficulty concealing his excitement upon learning about his promotion to the team’s standard roster on a new four-year contract, ensuring him $1 million for the remainder of the season.
Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com reports that Lawson struggled to keep his emotions in check at the gym, attempting not to show excessive enthusiasm or shed tears in front of others. However, once he reached home, he couldn’t contain his joy.
Lawson expressed his gratitude, saying, “But I got to the crib, and I just said ‘Thank God.’ And I screamed off my balcony. Probably the whole uptown area heard it. It was a great feeling and definitely something I’m going to remember the rest of my life.”
