The New Orleans Pelicans made it official on Monday, announcing that they have re-signed forward Herbert Jones to a three-year contract extension worth $68 million.
The move ensures that one of the team’s most dependable and hard-working players will remain a key part of the roster for the foreseeable future.
Joe Dumars, the team’s newly appointed executive vice president of basketball operations, expressed strong enthusiasm about retaining Jones.
In a statement shared by The Athletic’s Will Guillory via Twitter, Dumars praised Jones not only for his on-court contributions but also for his character and dedication to improvement.
“Herb Jones exemplifies all the great qualities our team values with his toughness, competitiveness, and commitment to getting better every day,” Dumars said.
“We could not be more excited to sign Herb to this contract extension and keep him in New Orleans for many years to come.”
Jones, recognized for his elite perimeter defense and steadily improving offensive skills, has emerged as a key piece of the Pelicans’ young core.
Over his four seasons in New Orleans, he has averaged 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists across 240 regular-season games.
