Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier is still under federal investigation for his potential involvement in an illegal sports betting scheme, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes. Despite no formal charges filed, league sources told Haynes that Rozier has not been cleared of wrongdoing.

Rozier’s name surfaced earlier this year when Sports Illustrated reported that federal authorities were examining his performance in a 2023 game with the Charlotte Hornets. That inquiry emerged during the broader investigation that led to Jontay Porter’s lifetime NBA ban for game manipulation and gambling fraud.

The 31-year-old guard, who completed his second season with Miami, remains a subject of interest in the ongoing probe. According to Sports Illustrated, investigators continue to evaluate whether Rozier played a role in the betting scandal that involved suspicious wagers and alleged game-fixing.

The NBA previously reviewed the matter internally and found no rule violations. However, the Eastern District of New York has expanded its inquiry, keeping Rozier’s case active while examining connections between NBA and college basketball games and the betting ring.

Porter pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July after investigators uncovered his deliberate in-game actions to influence bets, as well as his role in leaking confidential information to bettors. Several associates have also been arrested, including one who tried to flee the United States.

Rozier’s link to the scandal has not been fully explained. Authorities are reportedly scrutinizing his performance patterns and any possible communication with individuals tied to the gambling operation.
