Baron Davis shared a memorable story about his All-Star Game experience with Michael Jordan during an appearance on Podcast P with Paul George, presented by Wave Original. The former NBA point guard reflected on the moment he tried to secure Jordan’s shoes and signature, only to be denied by the legend.
“MJ was happy as hell,” Davis said, describing Jordan’s demeanor during the event. “You saw the love, the OGs, you see [Allen] Iverson, nothing but big dogs so I was kind of observing.”
Davis then detailed how he approached Jordan during the game, asking for his sneakers. “I said, ‘Let me get them shoes,’” Davis recalled. “He was like, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Can you sign them then?’ He’s like, ‘No.’”
Not ready to give up, Davis planned to try again at halftime, believing Jordan might change his mind. “You’re joking, I’ll be back at halftime,” he told Jordan. However, even after the game, Jordan held his ground, declining to hand over the sneakers or autograph.
Despite the refusal, Davis managed to leave with a piece of memorabilia. “At the end of the game, you know how you got to sign the jerseys and all that sh*t,” he said. “I swiped me one right there though.”
