Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman has signed a contract extension through the 2029/30 season, sources tell Shams Charania of ESPN. This adds two more years to the deal he signed in January 2022.
Altman has led Cleveland’s basketball operations since 2017, guiding the post-LeBron rebuild. Under his leadership, the Cavaliers have made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, winning a league-best 64 games in 2024/25.
He’s been instrumental in drafting stars like Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, acquiring Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell, and hiring Coach of the Year Kenny Atkinson.
The front office faces new challenges as Cleveland moves above the luxury tax threshold, limiting roster flexibility. The team lost Ty Jerome but re-signed Sam Merrill, traded Isaac Okoro for Lonzo Ball, and brought back Larry Nance Jr.
Charania also reports extensions for other key front office members, including GM Mike Gansey and assistant GM Brandon Weems.
