The Houston Rockets have officially released swingman Jeenathan “Nate” Williams, according to a team-issued press release.

Williams was under contract for the 2025–26 season at a non-guaranteed salary of $2,270,735. However, that deal wouldn’t have become fully guaranteed unless he made the opening night roster.

The 6-foot-5 guard/forward had been participating in his fourth consecutive Summer League campaign with the Rockets this year.

Now 26 years old, Williams has seen limited action during his time with Houston over the past two NBA seasons.

In total, he suited up for 42 games, contributing modest averages of 3.0 points and 0.9 rebounds in just 6.6 minutes per game.

His shooting splits during that stretch were .482 from the field, .258 from beyond the arc, and .571 from the free-throw line.

A product of the University at Buffalo, Williams has struggled to carve out a consistent role in the Rockets’ rotation.

In a corresponding move, the Rockets also confirmed the addition of undrafted forward Cameron Matthews, signing him to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract. News of the deal had originally surfaced last month.

Matthews, a five-year standout at Mississippi State, earned SEC All-Defensive Team honors twice during his collegiate career.

In his final season with the Bulldogs (2024–25), the versatile 6-foot-7 forward put up averages of 7.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 steals per game across 34 appearances.

He was rated as the No. 83 overall prospect in the 2025 draft class by Sam Vecenie of The Athletic.
