The Golden State Warriors are actively exploring trade possibilities involving forward Jonathan Kuminga, and according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, they are seeking a return package that includes a “promising young player” along with a future first-round draft pick.

The Warriors value Kuminga highly and are not interested in parting with him unless the offer reflects his long-term potential.

One recent trade attempt came from the Sacramento Kings, who reportedly offered a package including rookie guard Devin Carter, veteran forward Dario Saric, and two second-round picks.

However, Golden State viewed that proposal as underwhelming and declined the deal, believing the assets did not match Kuminga’s upside and market value.

Multiple other teams have shown varying levels of interest in the player as well.

The Washington Wizards have reportedly entered the conversation most recently, joining the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, and Brooklyn Nets as potential suitors.

All of these franchises are believed to be in different stages of evaluating whether the high-upside player could fit into their respective futures.

Kuminga himself is said to be open to a new opportunity, ideally in a situation where he could take on a larger role and become a featured part of a young core.

While his desire for a more prominent role may fuel trade momentum, there is no indication that his relationship with the Warriors is strained.

In fact, sources indicate that the Warriors and Kuminga’s camp are planning an in-person meeting during the Las Vegas Summer League to further discuss his role and future with the team.

Despite the trade chatter, the athletic wing’s return to the Warriors next season remains a realistic possibility.

Golden State extended him a $7.9 million qualifying offer earlier this offseason, which means they retain the right to match any contract offer he receives from another team.

That qualifying offer also classifies him as a restricted free agent, giving the Warriors significant control over his immediate future.

As it stands, the Warriors are weighing whether to capitalize on Kuminga’s growing trade value now, or continue developing him internally as a long-term piece of their evolving roster.
