The Detroit Pistons are bringing back big man Paul Reed on a two-year, $11 million contract, according to Shams Charania.

Reed, 26, spent the 2024–25 season with Detroit after being claimed off waivers from Philadelphia. He appeared in 45 regular season games, averaging 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per contest.

Known for his energy and versatility at the center and power forward positions, Reed gives the Pistons frontcourt depth behind Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart.

Before arriving in Detroit, Reed played four seasons with the 76ers, peaking in 2023–24 with averages of 7.3 points and 6.0 rebounds across 82 games. That season also saw him start 24 games and shoot 54.0% from the field.

While his role decreased in Detroit, his playoff contributions were notable. In five postseason games, Reed shot 62.5% from the field while providing timely defense and rebounding in limited minutes.

The Pistons finished the regular season sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 44–38 record. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in six games by the New York Knicks.

Reed had signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Detroit after being waived by Philadelphia in early 2025. His new deal gives the Pistons a cost-effective option to retain a veteran big man with postseason experience.

Through five NBA seasons, Reed holds career averages of 4.9 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game. He’s also played in 37 playoff games, including a stint as a rotation piece for the Sixers during multiple postseason runs.
