The Philadelphia 76ers have opted not to pick up the team option on guard Jared Butler’s contract for the 2025-26 NBA season, making him an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The decision ends Butler’s stint in Philadelphia, where he had been earning $2.3 million on a deal that was converted from a Two-Way contract in February.
Butler made the most of his opportunity after joining the Sixers’ main roster, appearing in 17 games and averaging 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists over 24.3 minutes per contest.
His solid contributions provided depth in the backcourt during a stretch in which Philadelphia dealt with roster injuries and lineup changes.
Despite Butler’s productivity, the Sixers have decided to maintain cap flexibility heading into the offseason, likely prioritizing other roster moves in free agency or the trade market.
Butler, still just 24 years old, will now be free to explore opportunities with other teams across the league.
