Naz Reid is set to remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves on a long-term basis, agreeing to a new five-year, $125 million contract with the franchise.
As part of the deal, Reid will decline his $15 million player option for the 2025-26 season, which was part of his previous contract signed in June 2023. That deal was originally for three years and $42 million.
Reid’s new contract includes a player option in the fifth and final year, giving him the flexibility to opt out and test free agency again if desired.
The agreement was negotiated by Reid’s agent, Sean Kennedy, and reflects the Timberwolves’ strong belief in Reid as a core part of their future.
The 25-year-old big man is coming off a standout season in which he averaged 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, while playing a key role off the bench.
His impact was recognized league-wide when he earned the 2024 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.
With Reid now locked in, Minnesota’s front office will turn its attention to other free agency matters – most notably the futures of Julius Randle and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, both of whom are set to hit the open market.
