Ace Bailey commits to join Utah Jazz soon

Despite initial uncertainty, top draft pick Ace Bailey plans to join the Utah Jazz in time for the start of Summer League training camp on Monday, according to multiple sources close to the situation.

Bailey, who was selected within the top five of the 2025 NBA Draft, had reportedly been eyeing a different destination, particularly the Washington Wizards at No. 6, and was said to have been hoping to avoid teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, and the Jazz during the pre-draft process.

His reluctance sparked speculation about whether he would report to Utah at all. However, his new representation has now publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Jazz organization.

“He’s thrilled to be going to Utah,” said Andrew Witlieb of GSE Worldwide, Bailey’s new agent, in a statement to Front Office Sports. “Obviously, it’s an honor to be selected in the top five of the NBA Draft. We think he can do a lot of great things out there. He certainly should get a ton of playing time, and he’ll have a lot of chances to show what he can do. So we think it’s a great situation for him basketball wise.”

Bailey was initially represented throughout the pre-draft process by longtime advisor Omar Cooper, who played a key role in guiding Bailey toward a team fit that he believed would benefit his development most, specifically, the Wizards.

“This was led by his longtime manager Omar Cooper, who we’re partnering with on this,” Witlieb explained. “And Omar really focused more on fit, rather than going third in the draft. He wanted somewhere where Ace could have the best possible basketball fit for his game and we think Utah is one of the best places he could’ve gone.”

The Jazz also confirmed they’ve maintained clear and consistent communication with Bailey and his camp and expect him to report on time.

“We’ve had good communication with Ace Bailey and his representatives,” a Jazz spokesperson told ESPN. “We feel good about everything. Ace and his family are coming to Utah tomorrow. We’ll have a press conference Sunday, and a practice Monday.”

Bailey’s upcoming arrival in Utah should put to rest questions about his immediate future and allow him to begin his professional journey with the Jazz as the team prepares for Summer League action.
