Daniel Gafford and the Dallas Mavericks have officially agreed to terms on a contract extension that will keep the center in Dallas through the 2028-29 NBA season.
The new deal is reportedly worth close to $60 million over three years and will take effect after Gafford completes the 2024–25 season, during which he is set to earn around $14 million under his current contract.
Gafford became a key part of the Mavericks’ rotation after being acquired from the Washington Wizards ahead of the 2024 trade deadline.
His impact was felt immediately, contributing to Dallas’ deep playoff push that ultimately resulted in an NBA Finals appearance.
With Gafford locked in long-term, the Mavericks’ frontcourt is shaping up to be both talented and crowded.
He joins a group that now includes Anthony Davis, emerging young center Dereck Lively II, and highly touted prospect Cooper Flagg.
The competition for minutes will be fierce, but the investment in Gafford signals that the Mavericks value his defensive presence, athleticism, and rim-running ability as a core piece of their roster moving forward.
