Cody Martin is emerging as a trade candidate ahead of a critical offseason for the Phoenix Suns.

According to reporting from Jake Fischer and Marc Stein on Stein’s Substack, multiple teams have expressed interest in acquiring the veteran wing. Martin, who arrived in Phoenix at the February trade deadline, could be included in a multi-team deal as the Suns explore ways to reshape their roster.

Martin was acquired alongside Vasilije Micic and a 2026 second-round pick from Charlotte in exchange for Jusuf Nurkic and a 2026 first-round selection. Since joining Phoenix, the 6-foot-6 swingman has seen his role reduced, averaging just 14.9 minutes across 13 games while contributing 3.8 points per contest.

His time in Charlotte earlier this season featured more opportunity. Martin appeared in 39 games with the Hornets, including eight starts, and averaged 7.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in nearly 25 minutes per game.

Martin, 29, is set to enter the final year of a four-year, $31.4 million deal.

The Suns, who finished 11th in the Western Conference at 36–46, are widely expected to make roster changes following a disappointing season. League insiders believe Martin may become part of a larger transaction as the franchise assesses trade options, particularly involving Kevin Durant.

Phoenix is currently engaged in discussions centered around Durant’s future, with the Rockets, Timberwolves, and Heat reportedly nearing the team’s trade threshold. As negotiations progress, movable contracts like Martin’s are seen as potential pieces in complex deal structures.

With the 2025 NBA Draft approaching on June 25, executives around the league expect Phoenix to intensify trade discussions. While the focus remains on Durant, secondary pieces such as Martin could play a key role in finalizing a transaction.

As the Suns attempt to retool around Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, any potential outgoing deal involving Durant or other core players will likely require rotation-ready assets in return. Martin’s name has surfaced accordingly as front offices evaluate trade frameworks.
