Should Bobby Portis choose to opt out of his $13.4 million player option with the Milwaukee Bucks for the upcoming season, he is expected to draw significant interest on the free-agent market.

Among the potential suitors reportedly monitoring the situation are the Golden State Warriors, who could benefit from his skill set and experience.

Golden State is currently thin in the frontcourt, with only Draymond Green, Quinten Post, and Trayce Jackson-Davis under contract for next season.

Portis, known for his energy, rebounding, and scoring ability off the bench, would bring immediate depth and versatility to the Warriors’ rotation of big men.

Adding further intrigue is the relationship between Portis and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. The two worked together during the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where Portis represented the United States under Kerr’s leadership.

That familiarity could make Golden State an even more appealing landing spot if Portis tests the market.

Meanwhile, the Bucks remain interested in keeping Portis, especially if franchise star Giannis Antetokounmpo remains committed to Milwaukee.

With Antetokounmpo signaling a strong likelihood of staying put, the Bucks are expected to make a concerted effort to retain Portis as part of their core moving forward.

Nonetheless, teams around the league are preparing for the possibility that Portis could become one of the more sought-after big men in this summer’s free agency.
