ESPN’s Shams Charania reiterated during a recent TV appearance that there was some mutual interest between Kevin Durant and the New York Knicks before the February trade deadline. Charania confirmed that the Knicks made an offer for Durant during that period.
One proposed trade scenario involves Karl-Anthony Towns, who was Devin Booker’s teammate at Kentucky. Because Towns and Durant have similar cap hits for the next season, this could simplify a deal for New York.
However, Gambadoro reported on the Burns & Gambo show that the Suns are not interested in Towns. Instead, Phoenix would prefer a return package centered around either OG Anunoby or Mikal Bridges if dealing with the Knicks.
Durant has played 17 seasons for 4 teams, including the Thunder and Nets. He has averaged 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 1,123 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 14 All-Star games. He has won the Rookie of the Year award, 1 MVP award, 2 Finals MVP awards, and 2 NBA championships.
