Kelly Iko of The Athletic reported that since the end of the season, the Phoenix Suns have made multiple calls to the Houston Rockets about trading star forward Kevin Durant.
Iko noted that the Suns have “gradually lowered” their asking price during these discussions. However, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports strongly disputes this narrative, calling the reports “beyond untrue.”
Gambadoro clarified that the Suns haven’t communicated with the Rockets regarding Durant since February. He explained that Phoenix had put any potential trade on hold while focusing on hiring a new general manager and head coach.
With those positions now filled, the Suns plan to start discussions with possible trade partners about the veteran’s future.
Durant has played 17 seasons for 4 teams, including the Thunder and Nets. He has averaged 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 1,123 regular-season games. He was selected to play in 14 All-Star games.
He has won the Rookie of the Year award, 1 MVP award, 2 Finals MVP awards, and 2 NBA championships.
