After a season of limited playing time in the NBA, Vasilije Micic is turning his attention to international competition and a fresh opportunity with Serbia’s national team at this summer’s EuroBasket.
“Of course, I really want to play,” Micic said. “Last year was great for us, you always want to play. This year, we hope it’ll be even better.”
The seasoned point guard, who was traded from Charlotte to Phoenix in February, featured in only five games for the Suns.
Now, with his NBA situation in flux and the Suns yet to decide on his $8.1 million team option, Micic is eager to shift focus to the national team – a place where he has historically thrived.
“Someone’s always missing,” he noted. “If everyone shows up, it’ll be incredible. And hopefully even more successful.”
Micic was a key contributor during Serbia’s recent international campaigns, and he hopes this summer will bring another chance to compete at the highest level – and perhaps remind both fans and NBA decision-makers of his value on the court.
