Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey is eagerly anticipating the start of next season. Although there was initial optimism that he might make a comeback during Detroit’s playoff run, the team ultimately prioritized his long-term health and kept him sidelined.
That decision was emotionally challenging for Ivey, who deeply wanted to be on the court with his teammates.
“This has been painful for him,” said Trajan Langdon, the Pistons’ president of basketball operations. “He is an incredible human being, teammate; he has been supportive. But it has been hard for him to watch our run.”
In other words, while Ivey remained engaged and positive around the team, the emotional toll of being unable to contribute during such a crucial stretch was significant. His competitive spirit and commitment made watching from the sidelines especially difficult.
The player sustained the injury on January 1 during a game against the Orlando Magic. Cole Anthony dived for a loose ball and collided with him, fracturing his left fibula. Since then, Ivey has focused on his recovery and rehabilitation.
He is expected to be fully healthy and ready for training camp later this year.
