The Philadelphia 76ers are preparing to retain a core group of veteran contributors for the 2025–26 season, according to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.
Per Stein’s Substack, the Sixers are expecting Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond, and Eric Gordon to exercise their respective player options and return to the roster.
Oubre, 29, played 60 games and started 57 while averaging 15.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest. His return at $8.4 million ensures continuity at the wing alongside Paul George and Quentin Grimes.
Drummond, 31, provided valuable minutes off the bench, posting 7.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in 40 games. He holds a $5 million option for next season.
Gordon, 36, offered floor spacing and leadership across 40 appearances. He averaged 7.3 points and shot efficiently from long range while playing on a $3.46 million contract.
Sixers president Daryl Morey hinted at the trio’s expected return during a recent podcast appearance, reinforcing the organization’s intent to retain veteran depth.
Philadelphia also continues to prioritize re-signing breakout guard Quentin Grimes, a restricted free agent. The 25-year-old averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 28 games after being acquired from Dallas midseason.
Grimes is expected to draw interest across the league, though Stein notes that Brooklyn is the only team currently positioned to make a significant offer.
The 76ers finished the 2024–25 regular season with a 24–58 record, ranking 13th in the Eastern Conference and missing the playoffs.
Despite the standings, Morey’s front office has signaled an offseason strategy built around internal stability, cap efficiency, and targeted retention.
Among other priorities, Philadelphia is also hoping to bring back French forward Guerschon Yabusele, who becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Yabusele, 29, averaged 11.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in 70 games after arriving on a veteran minimum deal.
His re-signing is considered financially viable following the team’s deadline moves, which aimed to create space for offseason flexibility.
