The iconic “Roundball Rock” theme is making a triumphant return. NBC has announced that it will bring back the beloved sports anthem next season as part of its new 11-year media rights deal to broadcast NBA games.

The theme, originally composed by the talented John Tesh, a renowned music composer and radio/TV personality, became synonymous with NBC’s NBA coverage during its heyday from 1990 to 2002.

“Roundball Rock” quickly became a fan favorite, instantly evoking excitement and energy whenever it played during NBA broadcasts.

Tesh, who has enjoyed a long and successful career in both music and broadcasting, crafted the tune to capture the essence of the league’s fast-paced action and drama.

It became so closely associated with the NBA during NBC’s coverage that it remains one of the most memorable sports theme songs in television history.

According to Jenna West of The Athletic, NBC’s decision to bring the song back was met with widespread enthusiasm, as it continues to hold a special place in the hearts of basketball fans.

Now, as the network prepares to resume its NBA broadcasts, fans can once again look forward to hearing the iconic melody that helped define an era of basketball on television.
