Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar added another piece to its frontline over the weekend by signing center Grigory Shukhovtcov for the remainder of the season. Shukhovtcov (2.12 meters, 32 years old) returns to the club he played four seasons for and helped to win the 2013 Eurocup. He already made his renewed debut with Lokomotiv on Sunday in the VTB United League with 6 points in 6:32 minutes in a rout of Vita Tbilisi. Shukhovtcov had last been in action with CSKA Moscow in the 2013-14 season. He debuted in the Euroleague that season, but only appeared in three games. Shukhovtcov grew up in the Dynamo Moscow system and also played for that club’s senior team in addition to Neptunas Klaipeda and Sakalai of Lithuania.

“We welcome one more new player to our team,” head coach Georgios Bartzokas said. “Grigory worked hard to get back to basketball. Of course, he still needs time to get into shape, and only then we will be able to figure out how to use his skills and experience on court. The most important thing is that his attitude towards work and personal characteristics are not to be questioned; he knows the club and is striving to help the team in any way possible.”
