Veteran point guard Chris Paul is contemplating his future in the league as the season nears its end.
With free agency looming this summer, the NBA veteran remains uncertain about whether he’ll continue playing beyond this year.
Despite the uncertainty, Paul has expressed appreciation for his time with the San Antonio Spurs, a stop he hadn’t anticipated on his basketball journey.
“You never know where your career, your journey, is going to take you,” Paul told Mike Monroe of The Athletic.
“I would never have imagined I would be here in San Antonio and have my career end with never coming here.”
Now averaging 8.8 points and 7.6 assists per game, Paul has brought leadership and poise to a young Spurs roster.
Though his role has shifted with age, his influence both on and off the court remains significant.
Paul has played 20 seasons for 7 teams, including the Clippers and Hornets.
He has averaged 17.0 points, 9.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in 1,350 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 12 All-Star games and has won the Rookie of the Year award.
