Bradley Beal’s return to the court on Friday night against the Boston Celtics didn’t light up the box score, but for the Phoenix Suns, it marked a step forward.
After missing eight straight games due to a strained left hamstring, the veteran guard made his way back into the lineup.
Though he struggled offensively – missing all seven of his shot attempts from the field – Beal remained positive about how his body responded, according to Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.
“Just getting back into a rhythm, getting back into the pace of the game,” Beal said after the game. “Just got to be a little more aggressive. It was a little bit trying to feel my way into the game.”
The veteran guard acknowledged that his performance wasn’t about numbers but rather reacclimating himself to game speed and rebuilding confidence on the floor.
The missed shots, he implied, were less of a concern than making sure his body held up.
Beal has played 13 seasons for the Wizards and the Suns. He has averaged 21.6 points, 4.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in 797 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 3 All-Star games.
