Noah Clowney’s second NBA season has been cut short, with Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez announcing on Wednesday that the young big man is in a walking boot due to a right ankle sprain and will not return to action this spring.

The Nets player had already battled injury troubles earlier in the season, including two separate absences for left ankle sprains.

This season, Clowney appeared in 46 games (20 starts), averaging 9.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 22.7 minutes per contest.

Despite showing flashes of potential toward the end of his rookie season, he struggled to build on that progress consistently this year.

His shooting efficiency was a challenge, making just 41.4% of his two-point shots and 33.3% from three, contributing to an overall shooting percentage of 35.8% in 2024/25.

The 20-year-old Clowney will enter the third year of his rookie contract, earning $3.4MM in 2025/26.

Brooklyn must decide by the end of October whether to exercise his $5.4MM team option for the 2026/27 season.

In addition to Clowney’s injury, the Nets also provided updates on two other players.

Cameron Johnson will miss his second consecutive game on Thursday due to a lower back contusion, while Day’Ron Sharpe, who has missed the last four games due to a right knee sprain, will soon be reevaluated.
