Brooklyn Nets ended a seven-game losing streak by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, with Noah Clowney playing a key role in the victory.
He led the team with 19 points and five rebounds in what was just his second game back after recovering from an ankle injury that had sidelined him for 15 games.
Despite primarily serving as a backup power forward, Clowney’s performance in the win has raised questions about his potential as a long-term starter.
As Brian Lewis of the New York Post notes, it could benefit the organization to provide Clowney with more consistent playing time moving forward, allowing them to evaluate whether he has the ability to develop into the team’s starting power forward in the future.
Given his upside and potential, providing him the opportunity to prove himself could be a crucial step in the Nets’ rebuilding process.
Clowney has played 2 seasons for the Nets. He has averaged 8.0 points and 3.8 rebounds in 60 regular-season games.
