The Brooklyn Nets have stumbled out of the gate with an 0-5 record, and young forward Noah Clowney’s struggles have been part of the early-season story.

Through five games, Clowney is averaging just 5.2 points per game while shooting 25% from the field, with most of his attempts coming from three-point range.

Despite the cold start, head coach Jordi Fernández is encouraging the 21-year-old to stay confident and keep taking shots. “Just keep shooting it,” Fernández told Dan Martin of the New York Post. “Don’t overthink it.”

The Nets showed faith in Clowney before the season began by exercising his 2026–27 team option.

Now in his third year, the forward/center is coming off a 2024–25 campaign in which he averaged 9.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 22.7 minutes across 46 games, shooting 35.8% from the floor.

Fernández emphasized that Clowney remains an important part of the team’s plans, praising his physical tools and energy.

“We need Noah,” the coach said. “Noah is a big presence for our team. [He has] toughness, size, shooting, rebounding [and] winning plays. We need more verticality and he’s a big part of doing that.”
