Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault has been named the Western Conference’s Coach of the Month for March, while Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla earned the honor for the Eastern Conference, the NBA announced today.
Daigneault’s Thunder and Mazzulla’s Celtics have been the league’s two hottest teams lately. Oklahoma City won 15 of 16 games in March, securing the No. 1 seed in the West for the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Boston won 14 of 15, keeping pressure on the top-seeded Cavaliers and locking in a top-three finish.
Although Daigneault isn’t a leading candidate for Coach of the Year, he has now won Coach of the Month in the West three times this season – more than any other coach.
The only other Western Conference coach to win multiple times in 2024-25 is Houston’s Ime Udoka, who has claimed the award twice.
Other West nominees for March included Udoka, Chris Finch (Timberwolves), Steve Kerr (Warriors), and Tyronn Lue (Clippers), according to the NBA.
In the East, Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson, who has won the award twice this season, and Pacers coach Rick Carlisle, January’s winner, were among the nominees.
They were joined by Billy Donovan (Bulls), Quin Snyder (Hawks), and Darko Rajakovic (Raptors).
