The New York Knicks are bringing back veteran forward PJ Tucker on a two-year deal, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

After playing on two consecutive 10-day contracts, Tucker will remain with the Knicks for the rest of the season and playoffs, with a team option for 2025-26.

The 39-year-old forward initially joined New York on March 10 after being waived by the Toronto Raptors.

Tucker played just one game for the Knicks, logging two minutes without registering a stat, but his defensive presence and leadership made an impression on the coaching staff.

New York, currently third in the Eastern Conference at 47-27, views Tucker as a key depth piece for its upcoming playoff run.

His ability to defend multiple positions and provide veteran experience in high-pressure moments factored into the Knicks’ decision to keep him.

Tucker’s season has been filled with roster moves, beginning with a midseason trade from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Utah Jazz on February 1.

Less than a week later, he was dealt again in a five-team trade that sent him to the Toronto Raptors, which also included Jimmy Butler joining the Golden State Warriors.

Toronto ultimately waived Tucker on February 28, allowing New York to sign him in March as the team prepared for the postseason.

While Tucker’s on-court role has been minimal, his history as a defensive specialist and playoff-tested veteran remains valuable.

A former NBA champion with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021, he has built a reputation as a tough, versatile defender capable of guarding elite scorers.

New York has been one of the most resilient teams in the NBA this season, overcoming injuries while maintaining a top-three seed in the East.
