The New York Knicks have signed free-agent forward PJ Tucker to a 10-day contract, NBA insider Shams Charania reported. The 14-year veteran had discussions with multiple teams before deciding to join New York, adding toughness and frontcourt depth as the playoffs approach.

Tucker, a 2021 NBA champion with the Milwaukee Bucks, was recently waived by the Toronto Raptors after being traded multiple times this season. He started the year with the Los Angeles Clippers before being dealt to the Utah Jazz on February 1 and later moved to Toronto in a five-team trade.

At 39 years old, Tucker’s offensive production has declined, but his defensive versatility and leadership remain valuable. Last season, he averaged 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15.7 minutes across 31 games with the Philadelphia 76ers and Clippers.

The Knicks (40-23), currently in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race, are looking to bolster their depth following injuries in their frontcourt. Tucker’s ability to defend multiple positions and provide a veteran presence makes him a potential asset in high-pressure games.

New York has relied heavily on its core rotation this season, and Tucker’s arrival offers an experienced option off the bench. His familiarity with deep playoff runs, including stints with the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets, could prove beneficial.

Before signing with the Knicks, Tucker weighed interest from other contenders searching for veteran leadership. The 6-foot-5 forward has built a reputation as an enforcer, known for his physicality and ability to match up against bigger opponents.
