Dwight Howard reflected on his journey after being inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame on Monday, expressing gratitude for the honor.

The former NBA All-Star took to social media to share his emotions following the ceremony. “Those tears today were tears of JOY. Tears for that 10-year-old that said he was going to be the #1 pick in the NBA draft! Tears for the 18 year old kid that was handed the keys to a franchise and a city. Tears for the ups & downs on this long journey I had in the NBA. Everything comes full circle and I want to thank the Magic again for inducting me into the Orlando Magic HOF,” Howard tweeted.

Howard, the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, quickly became the face of the franchise and led Orlando to multiple playoff appearances. He helped the Magic reach the NBA Finals in 2009, winning three consecutive Defensive Player of the Year awards along the way.

During his eight seasons in Orlando, Howard was a dominant force, averaging 18.4 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. He remains the franchise’s all-time leader in rebounds, blocks, and double-doubles.

Howard’s tenure with the Magic ended in 2012 when he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, but his impact on the franchise remains undeniable. His Hall of Fame induction cements his legacy as one of the greatest players in team history.

As Howard reflected on his career, he acknowledged the challenges and triumphs that shaped his NBA journey. His induction into the Magic Hall of Fame serves as a reminder of his lasting impact on the franchise and the city of Orlando.
