Anthony Davis is set to play tonight when the Dallas Mavericks face the Brooklyn Nets on the road, according to Marc Stein’s tweet.

After missing 18 games due to a left adductor strain sustained during his debut with Dallas on February 8, Davis will sit out the second game of the back-to-back against the New York Knicks on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

In his brief debut, Davis impressed with 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks in 31 minutes.

He’s been gradually increasing his activity, even practicing with the Texas Legends in the G League.

His return is a crucial boost for Dallas, who has been struggling with injuries, including Kyrie Irving’s season-ending torn ACL.

The Mavericks remain in the hunt for a play-in spot, currently tied for 10th with the Suns at 34-37, with the 9th-place Kings just ahead at 35-35.

Dallas has gone 6-12 without Davis. For the season, he’s averaging 25.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.1 blocks over 43 games.

Davis was the key player in the controversial trade that brought him to Dallas in exchange for Luka Dončić.
