A new trade scenario has surfaced involving the Portland Trail Blazers and Anthony Davis, as league chatter continues to build around star movement ahead of the offseason. Evan Sidery reported on Sunday, June 7, that Portland could pivot toward pursuing Davis if the franchise misses out on Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Sidery noted that Davis still prefers to be moved from the Washington Wizards, while adding that Portland previously checked in with the Dallas Mavericks during earlier stages of his trade cycle last season. The reporting places the Blazers among multiple teams monitoring the forward-center’s situation.
Davis has not yet played a game for Washington after being traded on February 5. He was acquired in a multi-player deal that sent Khris Middleton, Marvin Bagley III, AJ Johnson, a 2026 first-round pick, a 2030 protected first-round pick, and three second-round picks to the Mavericks, along with Davis, Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum heading to the Wizards.
His 2025-26 season was also impacted by injury. On January 8, Davis suffered a left hand injury late in a 116–114 loss to the Utah Jazz. An MRI revealed ligament damage, and Washington later opted for a non-surgical recovery plan with a multi-week timeline. He remained sidelined through the remainder of the season.
Across 20 games in 2025-26, Davis averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.1 steals while shooting 50.6 percent from the field. His career profile remains anchored by elite two-way production, including multiple All-NBA and All-Defensive selections across his 14-year NBA career.
Davis is currently under contract for two more years on a three-year, $175 million deal, with a player option in the final season. His long-term status has become a focal point for teams evaluating frontcourt upgrades with title aspirations.
