Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick emphasized that Jordan Goodwin’s contributions go beyond traditional statistics. Despite scoring just two points in the team’s 107-96 victory over the Phoenix Suns, Goodwin played a pivotal role in setting the tone.

“Never judge a player based solely on his box score,” Redick said postgame. “Jordan Goodwin was incredible tonight, and he had 2 points and 4 fouls. He set the tone for us.”

Goodwin, who signed a two-way contract with the Lakers in February, has become a key defensive presence. The 26-year-old guard is averaging 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 19.5 minutes per game this season.

Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak with the win, extending its home dominance to seven straight victories. Luka Doncic led the way with 33 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, while Austin Reaves added 28 points.

Jaxson Hayes, returning to the lineup, matched his season-high with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting. The Lakers (41-25) remained fifth in the Western Conference after bouncing back from a rough road trip.

Phoenix struggled offensively, shooting just 39.3% from the field and 22% from three-point range. Kevin Durant led the Suns with 21 points, while Devin Booker finished with 19. The Suns (31-37) fell further behind in the play-in race, now 1.5 games behind Dallas.

With LeBron James sidelined for the fourth straight game due to a groin strain, Goodwin’s energy and defensive effort were crucial. His impact, despite limited offensive production, reinforces Redick’s belief that intangibles matter as much as the box score.
