The Charlotte Hornets made history on Friday night, setting a franchise record with 26 three-pointers in a 145-134 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

LaMelo Ball led the way with 27 points and 14 assists, shooting 7-for-11 from beyond the arc. Nick Smith Jr. added a career-high 26 points, while Miles Bridges and Josh Green contributed 21 and 20 points, respectively.

Charlotte, which entered the game shooting 33% from three-point range, connected on 26 of 46 attempts. Marcus Garrett’s triple early in the fourth quarter secured the record.

The Hornets built a commanding 81-55 halftime lead, their highest-scoring half of the season. Charlotte led by as many as 31 points and won for the third time in four games.

San Antonio struggled defensively, allowing their second-highest point total of the season. Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 26 points, while Devin Vassell added 22.

The Spurs were without De’Aaron Fox, who was ruled out for the season due to tendon surgery on his left pinkie.

Charlotte’s three-point barrage was highlighted by Smith, who made six first-half threes before finishing 6-for-7 from deep. The Hornets went 10-for-14 from beyond the arc in the second quarter, with Seth Curry and Smith combining for five straight makes.

Spurs rookie Castle returned to the starting lineup for the first time since Feb. 3, finishing 10-for-17 from the field and 3-for-7 from three. San Antonio shot 45.7% from deep but struggled to keep up with Charlotte’s historic efficiency.

The Hornets, now 17-49, remain 14th in the Eastern Conference, while the Spurs fell to 27-38, 13th in the West.
