San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox will undergo season-ending surgery on his left pinkie, NBA insider Shams Charania reported. The procedure, scheduled for Tuesday, aims to address tendon damage Fox has been playing through since October.

Fox sustained the injury during training camp but continued competing throughout the season. The decision to undergo surgery now was made to ensure a full recovery and maximize offseason preparation.

The 27-year-old was traded to the Spurs on February 3, in a three-team deal with the Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls. Since joining San Antonio, he has averaged 19.7 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Fox’s absence is another blow for the Spurs, who have struggled with injuries this season. Victor Wembanyama was previously ruled out due to a blood clot issue, leaving the team without its top two players.

San Antonio currently holds a 27-37 record, placing them 12th in the Western Conference. They trail the 10th-seed Dallas Mavericks by five games in the race for a Play-In Tournament spot.

Fox has been a key contributor since his arrival, providing veteran leadership and scoring. Without him, the Spurs will have to rely more on Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan to carry the offensive load.
