Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey sustained a right ankle sprain during the fourth quarter of Monday’s 121-103 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
The 6’8″ restricted free agent was initially placed in a walking boot for stabilization, but head coach Billy Donovan confirmed that he has since shed the boot, according to KC Johnson of Chicago Sports Network.
While Giddey’s recovery is progressing, Donovan noted that he is still expected to be sidelined for some time.
As Johnson reports, the fourth-year guard has begun doing toe raises and walking, but the team has yet to establish a concrete return timeline.
His availability will depend on how he responds to on-court workouts. Despite the injury, the player plans to travel with the Bulls on their upcoming road trip, per Johnson.
Giddey has played 4 seasons for the Thunder and Bulls. He has averaged 13.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 270 regular-season games.
