After Friday’s game, the Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant took a moment to send well wishes to Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving, who recently suffered a season-ending ACL tear on Monday night, according to Rashad Miller of Dallas Hoops Journal.
The dynamic point guard shared that during some of the most difficult moments of his career, Irving was there to offer support and guidance.
“That relationship kind of just hit different,” Morant said, reflecting on the impact of Irving’s encouragement.
“In a time where pretty much the whole world is talking down on you, and you have somebody to lift you up. He has always been that guy for me.”
Morant has played 6 seasons for the Grizzlies. He has averaged 22.3 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in 296 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 2 All-Star games. He has won the Rookie of the Year award and 1 Most Improved Player award.
