The Washington Wizards have claimed forward JT Thor off waivers and signed him to a two-way contract, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Thor, 22, began the season on a two-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and appeared in nine NBA games, averaging 3.1 points in 4.7 minutes per contest.
The 6-foot-9 forward also played 24 games for the Cleveland Charge in the G League, where he posted 14.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
Washington, sitting at 11-49 and last in the Eastern Conference, continues to focus on developing young talent as it navigates a rebuilding season.
Thor’s athleticism and defensive versatility could earn him playing time on a Wizards team looking for long-term building blocks.
A second-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Thor previously spent time with the Charlotte Hornets before joining Cleveland earlier this season.
He also represented South Sudan in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and 2024 Paris Olympic Games, gaining international experience against high-level competition.
