De’Aaron Fox delivered in the clutch, sinking a go-ahead jumper with 2.6 seconds remaining as the San Antonio Spurs edged the Memphis Grizzlies 130-128 on Saturday night.
Fox’s shot came after Jaren Jackson Jr. tied the game on a banked-in three-pointer with 22.3 seconds left. Memphis had a final chance, but Santi Aldama’s desperation attempt missed as time expired.
San Antonio (25-33) snapped a four-game losing streak behind a balanced offensive effort. Stephon Castle led the way with 24 points and seven assists, while Fox and Devin Vassell each scored 20. Jeremy Sochan contributed 18 points.
Jackson carried Memphis (38-22) with a season-high 42 points, shooting 15-for-25 from the field and 5-for-8 from deep. Jaylen Wells added 18 points, and rookie Zach Edey had 17 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
The Spurs built a commanding 77-58 halftime lead, shooting 61% in the first half. A 27-8 run across the first and second quarters put them up by 19. Memphis, playing without Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, clawed back in the second half but fell short.
Jackson’s three capped a late rally that erased a double-digit deficit, but Fox’s final shot sealed the win. The Spurs finished 52.1% from the field and hit 14 three-pointers, while Memphis shot 52.6% but struggled from deep, making just 11-of-38 attempts.
The Grizzlies have now dropped four of their last five games, with all losses coming by one possession.
